June 13 marked the annual United Way Day of Caring in Elgin and Middlesex Counties.
3M Canada has been participating in United Way Day of Caring events for more than a decade. Even during the pandemic or wildfire smoke in 2023, 3Mers continued to offer their time to help United Way partner agencies in need of an extra hand.
3M employees are well known across Canada Ontario for their willingness to give back in any way they can. Whether it is through the 3M Harvest Lunch program, the United Way StairClimb event, Skills Ontario events, FIRST Robotics competitions or tree planting and seed collection activities with our partner Carolinian Canada – we know that along with financial investments, lending a hand is an integral part of helping non-profit organizations meet their goals to help our communities.
On Thursday, June 13, as part of a 3M Experience Day in Canada, volunteers from our head office and manufacturing centres were deployed to LUSO – a Community Services organization, to help improve the outdoor space at the agency. Their work included gardening, clean up and parking lot painting.
“Every year, I look forward to Day of Caring in the London area. I’m so grateful to work for an organization that empowers employees to give back. Our goal at 3M is to help build the spirit of giving within our organization and within the communities where we live and work,” said Amy Rummel, Global Diversity and Inclusion Manager, 3M Canada.
Earlier this spring, 3M volunteers also jumped to lend a hand to United Way partner agency - London Cares Homeless Resource Centre, to help build furniture for the centre for client use.
In 2023, more than 100 volunteers from 3M Canada in Brockville, Perth, London, Morden Manitoba and Chicoutimi Quebec, all spent hours of their time or their own money, giving back to the community. We are grateful to partner with incredible agencies who are supporting our communities across Canada.
